Large Program RoomJoin Art with Liz every week at the Library to learn about classic and contemporary artists, followed by a free art workshop. In-person and live on Zoom & YouTube!
The artist for this class will be Yayoi Kusama. Even though we have looked at her art on at least two other occasions, one can not talk about the
contributions of Asian American artists without talking about and looking at the extraordinary art of Kusama. Yayoi is a Japanese
contemporary artist who works primarily in sculpture and installation, but is also active in painting, performance, video
art, fashion, poetry, fiction, and other arts. Her work is based in conceptual art and shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism,
surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism, and is infused with autobiographical, psychological, and sexual content. She
has been acknowledged as one of the most important living artists to come out of Japan. Her fabulous work will inspire students to make
their own polka dotted and textured acrylic paintings and mono prints!
All are welcome!
This program will be held both in person and live on Zoom and YouTube.
Registration is required whether you are attending in person or online. Registration closes 15 minutes before each class. You will receive the Zoom link and password 15 minutes before the class begins.
