Beekeeping Program

Catch the buzz about urban beekeeping! Presented by Jersey City Beekeeper, Roger Moss

This program will inform you about beekeeping and beekeepers in Hoboken and Jersey City.

You will learn how honeybees are crucial to pollination of flowers to produce much of the food humans rely on and much of the rest of the living creature depend upon.

Using enlarged photos of life in the beehive and an “Observation Hive”, you’ll begin to understand how the bees communicate with each other, gather food for themselves and their young, and store up honey for the months when it’s too cold to fly out of the hive. We will answer such questions as, “Do bees hibernate in winter?”, and “What happens if the queen gets sick or too old to lay eggs?”. Bring your curiosity and questions to this introductory gathering.

Program is meant for children ages 6 and up, accompanied by a grownup
