About Chef Rene Hewitt:

Chef Rene Hewitt is a culinary instructor, children’s book author, and creator of Chef Rene Hewitt’s Sizzlin Kitchen™, his custom ChatGPT AI  culinary interactive recipe cooking app. He teaches culinary classes at Hudson County Community College through the Continuing Education program, where he teaches practical kitchen skills, cooking confidence, and a love of food with adult learners and community members.  He is also President of Hudson County Community College's Alumni Association. 

He is the author of When Mommy Needs Help: Caring and Cooking for their Mother, a children’s cookbook that combines storytelling, family care, simple recipes, kitchen safety, and hands-on activities for young readers. The book encourages children to learn about helping at home, caring for family, and building confidence in the kitchen.  It's available on Amazon as a HARDCOVER, PAPERBACK and KINDLE eBook.

When Mommy Needs Help has been accepted into the Library of Congress General Collections and he was featured in April 2026 on WOR-TV My9’s New Jersey Now. Chef Rene is also a former television cooking host of In the Kitchen with Chef Rene Hewitt, on the Xfinity network where he cooked recipes, cooking tips, and his passion for teaching.

Through his books, cooking programs, community events, and Chef Rene Hewitt’s Sizzlin Kitchen™, Chef Rene continues to inspire families, children, and lifelong learners to cook, learn, and connect through food.
