Art with Liz: Lecture and Workshop
Wednesday, October 28
10:30am - 12:30pm
Join Art with Liz every week at the Library to learn about classic and contemporary artists, followed by a free art workshop. In-person and live on Zoom & YouTube!
*Special Note: Art with Liz will be held at a new location while the library is under construction. Classes will be held at Hoboken Library's Grand Street branch, located at 124 Grand Street, on the second floor, in the Health Department's program room.
Please follow the way finding signs once you enter the building. If you cannot make it in person, you can register to receive a zoom link so you can join remotely and or watch us on YouTube either on the same day or view the class video at your leisure.
Aliza Nisenbaum will be our final artist. Born in Mexico City, Nisenbaum paints intimate, moving portraits of Latin American
immigrants. The subjects of her recent work are often undocumented immigrants, portrayed in bold colors against patterned interiors
and private spaces.
Discussion of Nissanbaum’s work may trigger memories of family histories and origin myths that will help them create the art project
of the day. Students will be encouraged to share stories and tales of their own ancestors and the immigrant or enslaved history of
their families. They will then create water color story or portrait paintings that convey a feeling of their pride in their ancestral beginnings.
This class is open to artists of any level, including beginners. All are welcome!
This program will be held both in person and live on Zoom and YouTube.
Registration is required whether you are attending in person or online. Registration closes 15 minutes before each class. You will receive the Zoom link and password 15 minutes before the class begins.
If you have any questions or have problems logging on, please email laura.knittel@hobokenlibrary.org.
