*Special Note: Art with Liz will be held at a new location while the library is under construction. Classes will be held at Hoboken Library's Grand Street branch, located at 124 Grand Street, on the second floor, in the Health Department's program room.

Please follow the way finding signs once you enter the building. If you cannot make it in person, you can register to receive a zoom link so you can join remotely and or watch us on YouTube either on the same day or view the class video at your leisure.

Our theme for November will be the art of the Americas. Each week we will look at the art of
artists of Native American ancestry. So much of our great land we owe to the original peoples
who lived here and who still live here and contribute to the American culture.

The first artist we will look at is Sonya Kelliher-Combs. Sonya Kelliher-Combs is a Native
American artist who works primarily with organic structures such as walrus gut, which was
used for centuries by Native Americans in making Inupiaq “overcoats". Her work has been
described as "[moving] beyond oppositions between Western/Native culture, self/other, and
man/nature, in order to examine their interrelationships and interdependence while also
questioning accepted notions of beauty.” Students will emulate her work by creating collages
using organic materials like sand, feathers, small stones and pebbles, etc

This program will be held both in person and live on Zoom and YouTube.

Registration is required whether you are attending in person or online. Registration closes 15 minutes before each class. You will receive the Zoom link and password 15 minutes before the class begins. Please note we have limited seating so seats will be given on a first come first serve basis as you register. All other will have to tune in via our live Zoom or YouTube channel.

If you have any questions or have problems logging on, please email laura.knittel@hobokenlibrary.org.
